I strongly hope that my music makes people think about things that they don’t ordinarily think of, such as what it means to be human and what it means to be alive. One of the ways music does this is by reminding us of our human potential.
Ideas are the most important elements of music. Without ideas, there would be no meaningful communication. It is also important to follow nature, in a number of different senses. Just as there are harmonies in nature, there are also natural harmonies in music, which should not be ignored, since this is what makes music sound pleasing, and brings people together. In another sense, nature does not contain anything inessential; it follows its own course, although there are frequent unexpected changes that continue to surprise us. My artistic development has followed its own natural course and each piece I compose evolves naturally over time.
